Slacker Mom

I'm getting used to this whole kid thing, but I still perpetually forget something when I venture out of the house. The first time we took Afton to the doctor they told us to change her diaper before we put her on the scale to be weighed. Tony and I just stared at each other. You guessed it -- no diaper (no diaper bag, no wipes, nothing but the kid). On the day Afton was blessed, I packed the diaper bag but somehow only made it to church with the kid and a pacifier. Now that Afton likes to grab things, I kept reminding myself to pack some rattles or toys for church. Not surprisingly, I showed up only with the kid and the diaper bag. Absolutely bored, Afton spent much of sacrament meeting (well, the 30 minutes or so she actually lasted in the chapel) grabbing her dress and exposing her little bloomers and belly....It was cute, but I was once again reminded of all my slacker mom tendencies...

At least you didn't forget the kid.

I forgot Carrie in the Relief Society nursery. Remembered the binky and forgot the baby. She survived.

Just so everyone knows, Heather is in no way a slacker mom. On Sundays Heather alone has the chore of getting Afton ready and towed up to church since I abandon her to attend my early meetings. If our positions were switched, I honestly believe there's a 60% chance I would forget to even dress Afton.

ha ha, Ton, you reminded me of a funny story.

I had early-morning meetings in Singapore and church was at 9:00, and Kurt was in charge of getting all 3 kids ready for church by himself.

He usually did a pretty darn good job, but one Sunday I pulled Aud out of her carseat...and her head was screwed on backwards.

No wait, her dress was on backwards.

But not bad for a dad, 3 kids, and no mom around, right?

Hey Heather, don't worry, after 2 kids I still don't take a diaper bag. half of the time on purpose and the other half on accident. It all stems from the half the time I do bring it I never need it, and the half of the time I don't bring the bag I not only need the diaper, but the extra change of clothes.
