Cowboys, Corndogs, and Carnies.
Since we don't get out much anymore, we thought we'd blog about an exciting B.A. (Before Afton) excursion to the Utah State Fair last fall. Unfortunately, I did not yet have my "To Catch a Predator" mustache. However, good times were had by all.
Nothing says State Fair like a crisp, warm, nutritious corndog.........with lots of mustard.

Happy One-Month Birthday!
The many faces of Afton:
Surprised Afton.
Surprised Afton.Happy one-month birthday Afton. We love you.
Father of the Bride
Afton celebrated her one month birthday today and for whatever reason - maybe its the lack of sleep or general paranoia - I have been thinking a lot about the day when Afton will casually inform Heather and I that she has met the boy she is going to marry. I find myself looking forward to that day with a real sense of sadness rather than one of excitement for Afton and her future husband.I remember going to see Father of the Bride with Dad and Sylvia years ago and seeing Dad in tears at the end of the movie. I asked him what was wrong and he told me that when I had a daughter I would understand. Well, I think I do understand now. (As an aside, Dill married a great guy and I will be lucky if I end up with a son-in-law as good as Kurt.) I have already warned Heather that when the apocalyptic day arrives, it will be Father of the Bride all over again with me filling the role Steve Martin to Heather's Diane Keaton (except without the weird Martin Short character involved.)

So, Afton, please be good to your poor Dad's heart and don't get married until after you've graduated from college, served your mission (which you will kindly extend by a month or two), finished law, medical, or business school, participated in the Peace Corps, and run for some major federal office, like Hillary's presidential bid which has lasted for what feels like 12-yrs at this point.
