The forgotten child

As I suppose is only natural, most parents aren't able to lavish as much attention on their second child as they did their first. I also assume that most parents feel very guilty about this. I know I do. With Afton, I'd come home from work and spend the whole evening with her. We'd walk around the backyard, I'd give her a bath each night, and we'd spend most of Saturday and Sunday together. With Ainsley, I haven't been able to give her that same undivided attention and I feel bad about that. The lack of attention is due, in large part, to simple arithmetic: Ainsley was born with a pre-existing sibling whereas Afton was born without one. Ainsley was therefore destined to not receive as much attention as Afton did. But some of it has to do with the fact that I'm now gone on Tuesday night, Wednesday night, some Thursday nights, and virtually all of Sunday. Needless to say, I haven't been able to spend as much time with Ainsley as I would like.

So here are a few pictures of Ainsley. She is a beautiful baby with chubby cheeks, light hair, and, incredibly, almost blue eyes.
I love you Ainsley!

Cute baby! You will no doubt experience some sibling rivalry as they get a bit older and the baby wants to share. But, that's life! Enjoy them while you can!

I just saw the post on the tricycle. we had one like that for Elsa (but not pink). I was a HUGE fan of being able to push, and more importantly, STEER, while she rode. Made it much easier also to carry Gibson in the front pack and take Elsa for a ride. I hope it works as well for you. It will probably work better because I still had to bend down a little to reach the push bar. I guess I needed an extenion. The tricycle didn't last for Gibson though because one time Elsa was pushing it and it fell down a little embankment. It was never the same...it finally fell completely apart just as Gibson was getting ready to ride it more. Now we're looking for people whose boys have outgrown their tricycles or little bicycles so we can buy it from them cheap.

Heather, Ainsley is so precious. I think she is bigger than Xenia! :)I am guessing nursing is going well, or did you do you bottle thing? Anyway don't feel guilty because in the end, (A) the younger one get more attention because there is just more people to give them attention, and (B) (I am experiencing this first hand now) the older one doesn't remember all the attention they got when they were young, but only the attention they are not getting now that there are younger ones. But good luck with everything. I miss not being able to hang out!
